The crumbling Victorian sepulchre located in Kirklees Park half a mile from the Priory Gatehouse only symbolically represents the burial location of the most distinguished outlaw of all-time.
My own research strongly indicates that though Robin Hood (Rob, Robard etc) did indeed die in the gatehouse at the hands of the prioress in 1347. However sometime early in the 17th century the remains were removed by Catholics to St. Peters church at Hartshead. Nevertheless the area is festooned with history & my own experiences include EVP, ITC & other hard to explain phenomena. The entire area is renowned for ghosts, some Roman soldiers, white habit wearing nuns who drowned themselves after falling pregnant, others restless souls, victims of the Church of England (or Henry v111) .
